Built in Gothic-Romanesque style, it was then reduced to the typical Genoese Baroque style, by Domenico Spotorno, with the collaboration of Ligurian stonemasons (Solario and Aprile), from 1669 to 1674. Archbishop Pietro De Vico (1657-1676) commanded the restoration works.
