Castello di Torrechiara

Castle Emilia, Italy

Castello di Torrechiara

Torrechiara Castle, the fortress with a frescoed heart, was built between 1448 and 1460 by the Magnificent Pier Maria Rossi and is one of the most significant and best preserved examples of Italian castle architecture.

Inside the Castle, the extraordinary "Golden Room", attributed to Benedetto Bembo. Note the wealth of 'grotesque' frescoes by Cesare Baglione.
