One of the most important monuments of early Christian art Basilica di San Vitale

The basilica of San Vitale is one of the most famous and important Catholic places of worship in Ravenna, an exemplary masterpiece of early Christian and Byzantine art. In October 1960, Pope John XXIII raised it to the dignity of a minor basilica. Since 1996, the basilica has been included in the list of Italian UNESCO World Heritage Sites, within the serial site "Early Christian Monuments of Ravenna".
