Chrysler Building

Skyscraper New York, New York

Take a picture of the unique Chrysler Building

Iconic, unique and spectacular, the Chrysler Building is perhaps one of the most beloved skyscrapers in the world.

The Chrysler Building is a "handmade" building, in art deco style, commissioned by magnate Walter P. Chrysler, who took over the project for the construction of the 77-story skyscraper in 1928. Unlike many skyscrapers of the period, that used materials ready on the market, the CB is the result of the craftsmanship that took place inside. The spire, the windows, the metal sheets that cover it, were worked in the workshops located on the 65th and 67th floors. The gargoyles themselves were created by reworking aesthetic aspects of Chrysler cars, and the spire is a re-imagining of a radiator grille. On the 31st floor are giant replicas of the radiator caps used by Chrysler in 1929, while on the 61st floor are the eagles soaring in all their gothic majesty. Today the only part that can be visited is the majestic atrium.
