The Gardens of Augustus were born in the ancient property that the German industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp bought in the early twentieth century close to the Certosa di San Giacomo to build his Capri home. After the First World War they were renamed "The Gardens of Augustus", a name that has remained to this day, and house the main species of flowers and plants that can be found on the Island of Capri.
