Robben Island

Robben Island (in Afrikaans Robbeneiland) is an island in South Africa. It is located in Table Bay, 13km off Cape Town. The original Dutch name "Robbeneiland" (later anglicized to "Robben Island") means "seal island", referring to the seal population that was on the island when the first Europeans arrived. The island was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.
