An educational journey into the hidden story of The Castle of Good Hope Castle of Good Hope

The Castle of Good Hope known locally as Cape Town Castle or Castle is a bastion fort built in the 17th century in Cape Town. Originally located on the coast of Table Bay, after land reclamation the fort is now located further inland. In 1936 the castle was declared a historic monument (now a Provincial Heritage Site) and, following renovations in the 1980s, is considered the best-preserved example of a Dutch East India Company fortress.
