The monastery of the Sacro Convento in Assisi is the main Franciscan monastery in the world, proclaimed by Pope Gregory IX, since its consecration, "Caput et Mater, the head and mother of the whole Minoritic Order. Together with the whole complex of the Basilica of San Francesco has been proclaimed a UNESCO heritage site.
