Tomba di Giulietta

Historical Place Verona, Italy

Visit the tomb of the young Capuleti Tomba di Giulietta

The tomb of Juliet is inside the former convent of Capuchin friars dating back to the thirteenth century, today the Museum of frescoes "G.B. Cavalcaselle". Tradition and imagination want it to be the sepulchral place of Giulietta Capuleti, protagonist of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. The aspect of the place, as we can see it now, dates back to 1937 when the head of the Verona museums, Antonio Avena, who had also taken care of the rebuilding in the style of Juliet's house, wanted to give an aspect closer to the tourists' expectations identified as the tomb of the Shakespearean heroine.
