Jim Thompson House

House Museum Thailand, Thailand

One of the most popular postwar legends of Asia Jim Thompson House

Jim Thompson House is a house museum in Bangkok, located in the Pathumwan district. It is a complex made up of several ancient Thai housing structures created by the American businessman Jim Thompson, to house his collection of works of art. Jim Thompson, a former Office of Strategic Services spy officer turned major silk entrepreneur, was a collector of Southeast Asian art. His collection consisted of statues, paintings and porcelain.

In 1958 he began to build a house in a park overlooking a klong (canal), buying and transferring parts of six ancient 19th-century Thai houses to Bangkok, to which he added European architectural elements.
