Quartier Pigalle is located under the Montmatre hill. It has always been known for its bad reputation. Pigalle is the "red lights" district of Paris. Im fact there are a lot of sexy-shops and places for erotic shows.
At Pigalle you can go to The Moulin Rouge, the most famous night club in Paris. But you can visit also the Musée de l'érotisme. It is the first exhibition of erotic objects in Europe. However at the same time this neighborhood was also the artistic and cultural landmark for great artists such as Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec and Salvador Dalí. You can find their trace in the Museum of Romantic Life. During the Second World War, the district was nicknamed "Pig's alley" because it was used by allied soldiers as an entertainment place.
