The Austerlitz Column (or Vendôme Column) is a commemorative column erected at Place Vendôme in 1810.
In 1806 Napoleon Bonaparte after the great victory of the Battle of Austerlitz used bronze of the 1200 Austrian and Russian cannons to build a column in honor of the French army. The column is 44 meters high. The base representing scenes of battles was influenced by the Trajan's Column in Rome. Moreover on this decorated pedestal stands an impressive statue of Napoleon.
