St. Patrick's Cathedral

Cathedral New York, USA

An antithesis to the urban context, the gothic St. Patrick's Cathedral

Consecrate to the Saint Patron of Ireland, this massive cathedral is really a white elephant in the contemporary urban environment of Manhattan, more precisely located on the 5thAvenue between 50th and 51st street.

The largest decorated gothic cathedral in the North America has been built starting from 1858, concurrently at the appointment of the diocese of New York as “archdiocese”, sanctioned from the late Pope Pius the 9th. Enjoy those high ceiling, the 3700 colored glass windows and the three times bigger replica of Michelangelo’s “Pietà” as well as many other works of art from all around the world. St. Patrick cathedral can hold up to 3000 people and its height from ground up on top of the peaks is more than 325ft.
