The Rookery

Historical Building Chicago, US

The iconic hotel The Rookery

The Rookery is one of the oldest buildings in Chicago, dating back to 1888. Completed by John Wellborn Root and Daniel Burnham of Burnham and Root, it is regarded as one of their masterpieces. The twelve-story building was nicknamed the Rookery not only in reference to the crows and doves that inhabited its outer walls, but also because of the shady politicians it housed.
