The funerary complex of Djoser, better known by its generic name of stepped pyramid is a funerary structure erected in the necropolis of Saqqara, north-east of the ancient city of Menfi. It was erected for the burial of Djoser, ruler of the III dynasty, by his architect Imhotep.
